New for 2018. Junior SUP Club is a social paddling club for kids and teens that love Stand Up Paddleboarding. They meet every Tuesday evening at CBK after school and hit the water on their boards with a CBK instructor. JSC was the brainchild of local SUP junior and CBK regular Sean Clements - he is heading up the club for 2018!
Sessions typically take place in Cullercoats Bay, a sheltered tidal cove, ideal for developing skills on the water.
When is it?
Sessions run as follows:
- Tuesdays (mid April to mid Sept): 18:30-20:00
- Autumn to Spring: Merged with CBK's Academy, Sundays 12.30-14.30. See the CBK's page for booking.
- Occassional trips and excursions occur throughout the year for club regulars
Over the autumn to spring season Junior SUP Club Pro members with their own kit can use discount code 'JSUPWINTER' to discount CBK's Academy sessions to £5 when bringing your own equipment.
Do parents stay on site during the session?
We ask that parents/guardians help with changing during the first half hour. After that you are free to nip home, grab a cuppa and put your feet up! All we ask is that one parent/guardian be contactable and be no more than 10 mins away from us during the session in case of emergency.
We do have The Snug upstairs for parents too, with self-service tea, coffee and snacks. Please do make use of the space if you'd like to.
How much does it cost?
Junior SUP Club is £5 for kids with their own equipment, £15 for kids who need to hire a board and wetsuit. This is per session, per child.
SUP Club On Tour!
During summer we'll be heading off in search of new waters to explore on Wednesday evenings. We of course supply all the equipment and our usual instructor team, so you just need to get yourself to the start point with swimwear and a towel. If transport is an issue, let us know as we can help arrange a lift share. Note: these events are only open to those who have previously attended SUP club or Junior SUP club, this ensures we have confident paddle boarders on the water. Upcoming trips are:
- Wed 8 August, 6.30pm: Hexham (River Tyne)
- Wed 29 August, 6.30pm: Warkworth & Amble (River Coquet)
