Welcome to SUP Club! For those of you that haven’t met me before I’m Dave, I’m one of the senior instructors here at CBK and I'll be lead guide for SUP Club in 2019. Most likely I’ll be the face you see on most of the SUP evening sessions this year!
Everyone here at CBK is passionate about paddling and we're always looking forward to sharing this with you all. Through regular paddling and skills development sessions we hope to give you the best SUP experience the North East has to offer. I have some big ideas for club sessions and trips this year, however if you have any suggestions let me know. I'll keep you up to date via this blog, WhatsApp broadcasts and the mailing list.
As for my experience, I’m a keen paddler, whether it be kayak, canoe or SUP I just want to be out on the water as much as possible. What attracted me to SUP was the versatility of the board. You can do all the things you would on other crafts, but with something the can be stored in the boot of your car or in the hold of a plane. I'm a confident touring paddler and can lead short trips, day trips and multi-day expeds too. I have a good local knowledge of the surrounding area and I’m always looking out for new places to paddle, both at home and abroad. I’m qualified through Water Skills Academy (WSA) as an Adventure SUP Guide as well as a British Canoeing SUP leader, so i'll be able to provide you with plenty of coaching and skills development opportunities.
My most memorable SUP experience must be island hopping and exploring the hidden coves and blue caves of Croatia. The crystal-clear water, calm seas and warm air in October was an entirely different experience to the North Sea!
I look forward to seeing you all on the water this year!
