The elements of Ice Dip Social are: the invigorating cold waters of the North Sea, a therapeutic Finnish tent sauna and a group relaxation space, where you can chill out and enjoy delicious locally sourced food. All of this comes together to create a unique day at the beach this winter. This is the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate outdoors.
This experience is available at Cullercoats Bay, a sheltered cove near our hub. We follow ‘Leave No Trace’ principles throughout this experience, ensuring we leave the environment pristine.

Where and when do I meet the Guide?
We have attached the arrival and end times of your Ice Dip Social onto the booking invoice as a handy reminder because we know you might be booking months in advance and so you can make plans for the rest of your day around this experience.
You’ll meet your guides on the beach in Cullercoats Bay. Keep an eye out for the flag and our green tents.
What will I see and do?
On arrival you will find your group tent, sauna and equipment is all prepared and waiting for you. We’ll start by settling in to the group tent, relaxing with a hot drink and chatting with your guide about the day’s itinerary. Your guide will then lead you through a cycle of ice dipping in the North Sea, followed by periods of heat therapy in our Finnish tent sauna. The sauna offers both dry heat and steam.
The therapeutic benefits of heat therapy and cold immersion have long been understood by our Scandinavian neighbours. It makes you feel great in the moment! Scientific study has revealed regular hot and cold therapy can have long term benefits too, boosting immune response and calming chronic inflammation.
After your ice dip session, you will retire to the group tent where you can relax and enjoy some delicious locally sourced food. We can accommodate most dietary requirements, as long as we know in advance.
After lunch, we will retire the sauna but you can enjoy a beach walk or just continue to chill out in your own private group space and we’ll keep the hot drinks flowing.
What level of ability is required?
You should be comfortable around water and able to swim 25m. You should also be generally fit, healthy and able to undertake moderate exercise without difficulty. If you have a heart or blood pressure condition and/or are pregnant, we advise seeking the advice of your doctor before engaging in cold water immersion or heat therapies.
How long does the experience last?
We will be on the beach from 10am until 3pm.

A professional water sports guide to facilitate your swim
Wetsuits to help you acclimatise, though you may end up in just your swimming shorts or bathing suit
All required safety equipment
A Finnish log-fired tent sauna, suitable for 4 people
A group relaxation tent with a log burner, for up to 8 people

What do I need to bring?
Footwear you don’t mind getting wet
Warm clothes, thick socks, gloves and a woolly hat
Towel, dry clothes and dry shoes for afterwards
On sunny days, sun cream to protect your skin
Your camera or phone should you wish to take pictures
