Sit On Kayak

The ultimate user-friendly kayak, sit-ons are the new wave in kayaking.

For many people their first experience of kayaking was being upside down in cold water at their school residential. Not fun. Sit on top kayaks take away all the faff and all the stress, as you literally sit on top of the boat. Very stable, ideal for beginners and great for exploring, these are the most popular boat we hire. Oh, and if you do fall off, just hop back on. Magic!

Options available: Tootega Pulse 95 single kayak or Tootega Pulse 120 tandem kayak.

FAQs

Who can hire equipment?

Anyone aged over 18 can hire our equipment. Under-18s must be accompanied on the
water by a responsible adult at all times.
We also ask that at least one member of your party bring the following:

  • Government issued ID

  • Mobile phone in a suitable dry case, to take on the water

Where can I explore?

Cullercoats Bay usually offers a sheltered and calm environment to explore, especially on the high tide. You launch from a gently sloping sandy beach and beyond that there are rocky shores, caves (on high tide) and deeper water areas to explore too. On good weather days you can explore north towards Whitley Bay and south towards Tynemouth. We’ll always advise where it is best to paddle on the day.

For full day hires or longer, you can explore further afield. As well as the Northumberland Coast AONB, we have excellent inland water on the Tyne, Wear & Tweed. The Lake District is also just 2 hours away by car. Remember, you will need a roof rack to transport your kayak to and from Cullercoats.

Can I take the equipment off-site?

Yes, but please consult the forecast and local expertise at your destination prior to getting on the water.
