Stand Up Paddleboard

Lightweight and user-friendly, our Red Paddle Co. SUPs are great for exploring the coast and learning new skills.

The feeling of being on stand up paddle board is unexplainable. Feel the water beneath your feet, see unrestricted 360º views of the ocean and enjoy the challenge of using fine balance and coordination skills as you explore the coast. It takes a little longer to master the basics on a SUP than on a kayak, but the rewards are most definitely worth it. It’s like walking on water.

Options available: Red Ride 10’6 or Red Ride 10’8. Our Tandem SUP is the 15’0 Red board.
We recommend the 10’8 if you’re over 6’ tall or weigh more than 90kg.

FAQs

Who can hire equipment?

Anyone aged over 18 can hire our equipment. Under-18s must be accompanied on the water by a responsible adult at all times. We also ask that at least one member of your party bring the following:

  • Government issued ID

  • Mobile phone in a suitable dry case,
    to take on the water

Where can I explore?

Cullercoats Bay usually offers a sheltered and calm environment to explore, especially on the high tide. You launch from a gently sloping sandy beach and beyond that there are rocky shores, caves (on high tide) and deeper water areas to explore too. On good weather days you can explore north towards Whitley Bay and south towards Tynemouth. We’ll always advise where it is best to paddle on the day.

For full day hires or longer, you can explore further afield. As well as the Northumberland Coast AONB, we have excellent inland water on the Tyne, Wear & Tweed. The Lake District
is also just 2 hours away by car or train. Our inflatable SUPs will fit in the boot of most cars.

Can I take the equipment off-site?

Yes on full day hires, but please consult the forecast and local expertise at your destination prior to getting on the water.
