After a few years off the water whilst concentrating on his media career and raising his young family. A chance meeting at the beach in 2010 exposed him to stand up paddle boarding (SUP) and he felt the ocean once again calling him.

In 2006 Nick proved his water skills hadn't left him when he was involved in a rescue of some teenage girls from a rip tide in Whitley Bay for which he won a Royal Humane Society Award.

Since then he has been the most passionate advocate for SUP on the north east coast. Regularly surfing his SUP at Tynemouth, Blyth and Whitley Bay, fishing and cruising the coast and rivers. He also competes and had acheived some great results, making the quarter finals at this year’s national SUP surf champs in Cornwall and winning the inaugural Scottish SUP surf comp in 2015.

In 2016 Nick will be running the SUP side of things as well as Coasteering and teaching surfing. Qualifications include: ASI SUP Coach Level 1+2, RLSS Beach Lifeguard, BCU Kayak Safety & Rescue, CBK Coasteering Guide and BSA Surf Level 1.
