Does your bike skip a gear when you change up or down? Do the brakes stick just a little bit? Do the pedals click when they turn, or is that your knees? A lot of people think this is normal behaviour for a bike, but it's not and we love fixing things like this. You see tinkering away repairing bicycles is our idea of a great day at Cullercoats Bike & Kayak. So why not be kind and bring us your bike to service or repair. Here is a list of our service packages and also some prices for common repair jobs.

What about Kayak Repairs?

There is a lot less to go wrong on a kayak, so just pop in or call us for a chat if you would like us to quote you on a kayak repair. We can undertake plastic welding, seal replacement and help source new parts as needed.

• Bike Servicing •

Check N'Set

The Check N'Set is for those bikes that have been in the shed for a while and just need a little attention.

The Kwik-E

Our Kwik-E service is ideal for bikes that need a little tune up but are still running reasonably well. You might have a Kwik-E just before a long bike ride, or if your bike has been laid up for a few months over winter.

The Full Monty

The Full Monty is ideal for heavy users who find their bike is not performing as well as it used to. Having a Full Monty service should leave your bike feeling almost new again.

• Bike Repairs •

The prices below are for common repairs or services we are typically asked for. Prices exclude any parts, you are welcome to supply your own parts, or just ask us and we will get you the best price we can and ensure the parts are right for your bike.

We never undertake any work other than what we have quoted without seeking customer approval.

  • Tube/Tyre Replace: £10: Includes disposal of unwanted tubes/tyres
  • Bike Build: £20 From a box, all packaging disposed of
  • Bottom Bracket Overhaul: £25 Remove, inspect, and reinstall bottom bracket and crankset.
  • Brake Pad Replace: £15 Includes removal of old pads, installation and adjustment of new pads.
  • Cable Installation: £15 Includes installation of cable and adjustment of cable system.
  • Drive-train Clean: £45 Includes removal, degreasing, and re-installation of derailleurs, crank-set, and chain/cassette. Does not include readjustment.
  • Headset Installation: £30 Includes removal of old headset and installation of new headset
  • Hub Adjust: £15 Includes removal of wheel and rotor/cassette if necessary, inspection and adjustment of hub.
  • Hub Overhaul: £25 Includes above plus full disassembly of hub and new grease/bearings as necessary.
  • Hanger Adjust/Replace: £20 Includes removal of old hanger and installation of new, and adjustment of rear derailleur.
  • Spoke Replacement: £20 For one spoke install and wheel true. Cost increases as more spokes are required.
  • Wheel True: £20+ Includes minor truing of one wheel, charge may increase for intensive re-tensioning and/or re-dishing.
  • Install/Replace/Cassette: £15 Includes removal of old cassette and installation of new cassette.
  • Install Chain £10 Includes removal of old chain and installation of new chain
  • Miscellaneous repairs or installations: Workshop rates are £30 per hour

We don't offer bike building (to spec, from parts) or full wheel building, but know loads of great places that do and we are always happy to point you in the right direction or even outsource the work if you would rather deal with us directly. Just call or drop by to discuss your requirements.
